The Sanctuary Organ In 1960, the original organ was
given to the church by Mr. & Mrs. W.E. Darby and
their four daughters. The Schantz pipe organ had 3,000 pipes in 3 Repairs and additions to the organ were made from 1979 to 1980 as part of the "New Dress" campaign to celebrate the sanctuary's 30th birthday when the chancel was renovated. The trumpette en chamade was later added to the Schantz organ in memory of Becky Slater, director of children's music. A plaque in the narthex commemorates the gift. Our New Organ. Our new organ, given to the church by an anonymous donor, was dedicated on February 14, 1999.The new organ has 4,190 pipes and 72 ranks to allow a rich range of sound. The exposed copper facade pipes in the front and back of the sanctuary add to the beauty of our church. Nicholas & Simpson of Little Rock were the builders and artisans of the organ and the craftsmen were C. Joseph Nichols and Wayne Simpson. The builders, artisans and craftsmen combine ancient skills with modern technology to provide instruments of the highest quality.The organ is now valued at nearly $1 million and is among the top instruments in the country.
