Support Groups

PHUMC offers a variety of Christian support groups that are open to church members and nonmembers alike. Support groups that meet regularly at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church include the following:

Cancer Friends.  
A support group of people suffering from various forms of cancer, those who have survived cancer, and the friends and family members of those with cancer. The groups meets monthly, sometimes for lunch.

Divorce Recovery Support Group
Sessions on divorce and relationship recovery are offered periodically by one or more trained facilitators. These sessions will be publicized in the Tower newsletter.

Grief Support Group

An ongoing grief support group meets every Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. for persons suffering all kinds of loss, primarily the death of a loved one. This group has is led by Betty Drake. It is always open to new people.

A structured Grief Recovery Workshop is also offered periodically throughout the year which explores the stages of grief and offers help to grieving persons. This group is also led by a trained facilitator.

Second Genesis. Provides the state’s only program to reintegrate former female inmates into society.

Advocates for Battered Women. Shelters women and children who are victims of domestic abuse.

Florence Crittenton Home. Provides the only local residential home where single teenage mothers can live, learn and grow while awaiting the birth of their babies.  PHUMC works on the Harvest of Hope each fall to support stocking their food pantry. Call (501) 663-3129 for more information.

United Methodist Women. UMW offers an organized unit of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church

Others are offered as well. Some are sponsored by the church while others are hosted by outside groups that use the church buildings.
