February 1912 - Pulaski Heights Methodist Church is organized with 47 members and construction of the church begins. July 21, 1912 - The cornerstone of the church is laid during a ceremony conducted by Rev. H.F. Buhler. This original cornerstone is later moved to the courtyard of the current sanctuary. 1947 - Pulaski Heights pays $20,000 for a 1/2 city block of land at Woodlawn & Monroe for the construction of the sanctuary. Today's sanctuary remains at this location. 1949 - Plans
begin for a new English Gothic style sanctuary. May 14, 1950 - The cornerstone of the new sanctuary is laid at the northeast corner. 1950 - Rose Window. The McDonnell Streepey Sunday School Class gives the rose window in honor of Mrs. J.P. Streepey. December 24, 1950 - Bishop Paul Martin delivers the sermon during the first service in new sanctuary. 1950 - T. J. & Inez Raney Preaching Series. Soon after the sanctuary dedication during the Christmas season of 1950, Alton and Mary Raney established an endowment fund to provide for an annual lectureship, which continues to bring outstanding guest preachers to Little Rock for a sermon series each year. The Raney's made the endowment in memory of Alton's parents, T. J. and Inez Raney.The Raney Preaching series remains an active event in the life of our church. Click here for updated information: Raney Series In 1960, the original organ was given to the church by Mr. & Mrs. W.E. Darby and their four daughters. The Schantz pipe organ had 3,000 pipes in 30 ranks (sets). The organ was rededicated in 1980. March 3, 1966 - The first television broadcast of the PHUMC Sunday morning worship service airs. Click here for more information on Broadcast Ministries. 1998-99 - The sanctuary is renovated with slate floor, new lighting, improved acoustics, and a new organ. 1999 - Our New Organ. Our new organ, given to the church by an anonymous donor, was dedicated on February 14, 1999. Click here for more information on the organ and the bell tower. February, 2004 - Following a "Join Hands & Build" Campaign and two years of construction, the Nixon Disciple Center opens with Wesley Hall for contemporary worship, the One Way Cafe for youth, additional classrooms, and a two-level parking deck. 2005 - The Columbarium Memorial Garden is completed.
