PHYouTH Ministries At PHUMC, our youth are valued members of our church community. We offer a wide variety of programs for our teenagers to help them embrace their faith, find fellowship with other teens and have opportunities to help those in need. ONE-WAY CAFE: All youth are invited to the One-Way Cafe. Listen hear (here!) for more information: radio spot Help us communicate with you:
Sunday School - Teens Currently we have six Sunday School classes for youth. We have classes for 7th grade through the 12th grade. All youth meet each Sunday at 9:15 a.m. in the Faulkner Hall for donuts, singing, fellowship, & announcements. Classes begin at 9:15 a.m. and finish by 10:15 a.m. Music Ministry - Cornerstone Choir During the school year, The Cornerstone Choir, our youth choir, meets every Sunday afternoon prior to UMYF. It is open to any youth grade 6 through 12. The group sings in worship periodically. They also participate in the church-wide "A Touch of Class" dinner theater, which combines the talents of the youth, adults, and children in a variety/stage, show format. Missions - Youth Mentoring Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church's goal in our youth mentoring ministry is to establish positive role models and educational programs for children and youth at risk through one-on-one projects and sustained mentoring. PHUMC is always looking for participants in these missions and your involvement is always welcomed and appreciated. Retreats and Trips Weekend retreats and mission trips are open to youth in grades 7 through 12. We also have a spring break mission trip to Mexico or another location each year. Youth mission teams have traveled to Rio Bravo, Guatemala, Russia, Ecuador and other places closer to home - like Memphis, Benton, Dumas, Hot Springs, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee. Youth have made several trips to the Gulf Coast area for clean-up over the past two years. Activities and Special Events Each month we have one special activity or event, which appeals to youth. This past year's activities included, a lock-in, , "Marshmallow Wars", the "Big Back to School Thing" and a Halloween haunted house. Cross Training Worship Service Senior High (grades 9-12) school students meet Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. in Shambling Chapel for a worship service that is led by youth and a devotional by adult leader Brad Sanders. Bible Studies We also offer Bible study through Promise Groups and classes that meet on Sunday afternoons, Sunday evenings and weeknight evenings. Call the office 978-0540 for details on when groups meet. Youth Leadership Our youth leadership consists of the Prayer Team, the Worship Team, the Praise Band Team, the Planning Team, and the Mission Outreach Team. These youth volunteer to plan & lead all programs, activities, special events, and trips, which take place through Youth Ministries. This is a volunteer group that gives time to imagine, create, and plan these activities. They go on retreats twice a year to plan programs and activities, which will seek to meet the needs of youth today. Ask Jay
