What do you think of when you hear the name Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church? Growing up in this church one of the first things I would say is…Mission. Mission is a big part of who we are as a church. My name is Caitlon Tribett, and I started mission work when I was younger by bringing “The Food of the Month” for our Food Pantry. Later, during Vacation Bible School, we would collect items for the Guatemalan Mission trips and as a 5th & 6th grader we would work at the Food Network, Animal Shelters and Soup Kitchens. All these things were teaching me about mission in my community and what it truly means to be the hands and feet of Christ.
I remember watching when my brothers would go off on mission projects, I was wanting go and work on scraping paint off a house or building a deck and wheelchair ramp, it sounded like so much fun. And the fellowship they shared with each other…they would come back with new friendships and always a little more kindness in their hearts and a sense of accomplishment.
Now as a member of our Youth group, I have the opportunity to not only serve others in my local community but to get out of my comfort zone and experience mission in a powerful way. This year, I will be joining one of our three youth teams going to Ozark Mission Project- we will spend a week working at homes of people Jesus would call neighbor- so that is what we call them too. We will work hard for our neighbors and also worship together and build community. I know my life will be changed and I’m hoping God works through me to help change someone’s life.
Special contributions may go toward
the Youth Mission Fund. The money you
give will help change lives- please give what you are able to help support this
important extension of our church.
Thank you for everything you do for us!
